A 38 year old autorickshaw driver allegedly stabbed his wife to death and subsequently killed himself at their home in the Vibhutipura area of Bengaluru. Police discovered the bodies of Raghavendra and his wife, Shruthi, 30, on Wednesday morning. Preliminary investigations suggest the incident followed a quarrel on Tuesday night, during which Raghavendra allegedly attacked Shruthi with a beer bottle.
Police reports indicate that the couple had been married for 17 years and had two children, who were staying with their maternal grandparents in Davanagere. The couple lived on the ground floor of a building where Raghavendra's parents resided on the first floor. Investigators stated that Raghavendra struggled with alcohol addiction and spent most of his earnings on it. He also frequently accused Shruthi of spending too much time on her mobile phone.
Officers from the HAL police station have registered a case and are currently questioning relatives to determine the exact motive and circumstances surrounding the deaths.
