Body of British and Irish National Recovered After Disappearing in Pakistan's Siran Valley

The body of Alexander Harris, a British national with Irish citizenship, was recovered from a gorge in the dense forests of the Paracha Khatta area in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Harris went missing while descending from the Musa Da Musalla peak, which reaches over 4,000 meters, amid heavy rain and dense fog. A search operation involving over 250 police personnel, Forest Department officials, Rescue 1122, and local volunteers located the body on Wednesday.

Harris was accompanied by a British national, Alun David Cooper Cledwyn, and a local guide. The group successfully summited the peak and began their descent on August 30. According to reports, Harris was far ahead of the others in poor visibility and became separated from the group. The Margalla Trail Runners, an Islamabad based club, stated that Harris likely strayed onto an incorrect trail and fell into a ravine estimated to be 200 feet deep.

Police officials noted that the mountaineers had traveled to the Siran Valley on August 28 without obtaining the required no objection certificates from relevant departments. Harris, who was originally from Birmingham and worked for Adam Smith International in Islamabad, was described by his running community as an avid trail runner with a deep love for Pakistani culture and traditions. His family has arrived in Islamabad, where local authorities have pledged full support to complete legal formalities.
