The Brazilian Federal Police (PF) have identified evidence suggesting a structured arrangement between Senator Jaques Wagner and executives from Banco Master. According to PF documents, Wagner had 74 phone calls totaling over five hours with businessman Augusto Ferreira Lima between November 2023 and May 2025. Investigators claim these communications often coincided with legislative events of interest to the bank, such as amendments regarding the Credit Guarantee Fund (FGC). The PF also indicates that Wagner received gifts, used private jets and helicopters, and had Taylor Swift concert tickets worth 63,000 reais purchased for his daughter and granddaughter. Additionally, reports mention negotiations for a luxury apartment in Salvador worth 2.45 million reais.
Further findings sent to the Supreme Federal Court (STF) suggest that Wagner invested approximately 167,298 reais in a bank certificate of deposit (CDB) with Banco Master, which grew to over 194,000 reais. The investigation also mentions other politicians who allegedly received gifts from Lima, including Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues, Mayor Bruno Reis, and former Mayor ACM Neto. Attorney General Jorge Messias denied participating in a meeting with Lima at Wagner's office.
Senator Jaques Wagner has denied any wrongdoing, calling the PF action a "patacoada" and stating he will prove his innocence. He claims the investigation is criminalizing professional relationships and that he never worked in favor of Banco Master. In statements reported by different sources, he emphasized his focus on upcoming elections and claimed to have the support of President Lula.
