  • A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.

Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

The Attorney General of the Union (AGU) has formally demanded that the platform Discord correct security flaws regarding the protection of children and adolescents. This action follows a meeting on Friday between the AGU and company representatives to address failures in age verification and risk prevention mechanisms. The AGU stated that if the platform fails to implement sufficient measures, it may pursue legal action, including a public civil action that could lead to the suspension of the service in Brazil.

The demands were triggered by a request from First Lady Janja Lula da Silva, who called for the immediate blocking of the platform in Brazil. Her request followed a case in Mato Grosso do Sul where a 13 year old girl was allegedly induced to commit suicide during a live transmission. Police have since launched Operation Lívia to investigate a group of youths suspected of recruiting the teenager.

Discord responded by stating it has a commitment to user safety and is cooperating with police investigations. The company noted that it maintains a continuous dialogue with Brazilian authorities and has reported individuals to the police, contributing to arrests. The AGU and Discord have agreed that the platform will present a proposal for concrete measures to ensure compliance with Brazilian law, which may lead to a Conduct Adjustment Term (TAC).

Additionally, the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) opened a fiscalization process against Discord to investigate potential violations of the Digital Statute of the Child and Adolescent (ECA Digital).
