Joshua Cammidge, a 31 year old man from Swindon, has been charged with offences under the National Security Act 2023 for allegedly assisting Russian intelligence services. The charges follow an investigation led by Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London and relate to alleged contact with a representative of the GRU Volunteer Corps, a group controlled by Russia's military intelligence agency.
Cammidge was arrested on Friday, September 4, at an address in Swindon by CTP London officers and Wiltshire Police. Following searches at a second Swindon address, he was further detained on September 5. He has been charged with assisting a foreign intelligence service and preparatory conduct.
