Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

Every source for this story reports from South Korea.

U.S. favorability for the K-pop group BTS reached a record high of 46 percent in the second quarter, according to data from global music analytics firm Luminate. BigHit Music, the group's agency, announced the findings on Friday, noting that the figure has risen 12 percentage points from an initial reading of 34 percent since Luminate began compiling the data in 2021. The survey also indicated that 42 percent of respondents were familiar with BTS, which is 18 percentage points higher than the 24 percent average for all surveyed artists. BigHit Music stated that these results demonstrate that BTS has established a broad base of public support and mainstream appeal in the United States that extends beyond its core fandom.
