The Fundação Cacique Cobra Coral, an esoteric institution based in Guarulhos, São Paulo, claims it was hired to intervene in the weather during Rock in Rio. The foundation, which is led by a medium who claims to channel the spirit of Cacique Cobra Coral, specializes in mystical operations to influence the climate. On Friday, September 11, artists including Stray Kids, Alok, Hwasa, and Nexz performed without rain.
There are conflicting reports regarding who hired the foundation. A spokesperson for the foundation, Osmar Tunikito Santos, told CNN Brasil that the request came from a private legal entity under a confidentiality clause and explicitly denied that the request came from festival creator Roberto Medina or the Rio de Janeiro City Hall. Conversely, Folha de S.Paulo reported that the foundation said it was called upon by the Rio de Janeiro City Hall to reduce rain in the city over the weekend.
The foundation was established in 1931 to address natural imbalances caused by human action. While the foundation claims to have influenced the weather for the event, Folha de S.Paulo noted that the city continued to face instability with rainy and cloudy periods on Saturday, September 12.
