Pedro Leitão Brito, known as Bubista, was announced on Tuesday as the new coach of the Moroccan club RS Berkane. This appointment comes one month after the 56 year old led the Cape Verde national team to the round of 32 in the 2026 World Cup. During his first World Cup appearance, the Blue Sharks advanced from the group stage following a 0 to 0 draw with Spain, who eventually won the tournament. In the knockout stage, Cape Verde was defeated 3 to 2 by Argentina after the match went into extra time. Argentina later reached the final.
RS Berkane announced the hiring on Facebook, stating that they chose Bubista following his success with the Cape Verde national team. The Moroccan club was the runner up in the Moroccan league last season and reached the semifinals of the African Champions League. The Cape Verdean Football Federation has not yet announced the coach's departure.
