Cape Verdean Goalkeeper Vozinha Joins Chilean Club Colo Colo

Cape Verdean goalkeeper Vozinha has officially signed with the Chilean club Colo Colo following a standout performance at the World Cup. The 40 year old player, who previously played for Chaves in Portugal and clubs in Angola, Cyprus, Moldova, and Slovakia, was presented to the media on Tuesday. Vozinha stated that while he had played in smaller leagues, he always believed he was a player for a big club, and he described joining Colo Colo as the high point of his club career. During the World Cup, Vozinha helped Cape Verde advance beyond the group stage after draws with Spain, Uruguay, and Saudi Arabia, before the team was eliminated by Argentina in the round of 32. Colo Colo sporting manager Daniel Morón explained that the proposal to bring Vozinha to Chile came through Luciano Duthu, noting that the signing brings global visibility to the club and the Chilean league. Club president Aníbal Mosa dismissed comparisons to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, though he acknowledged the global reach of the signing. The arrival of the goalkeeper has generated significant commercial interest, with Adidas launching a collection called Exceso de aura featuring jerseys and apparel. Vozinha mentioned that his arrival in Chile was slightly delayed due to personal matters and visa processing in Portugal. He expressed his desire to bring his family to Chile and stated that he does not feel pressure from the expectations of the fans.
