Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has concluded a record broadcasting rights agreement for the Copa do Brasil for the 2027 to 2030 cycle. The deal is valued at more than R$ 4 billion and involves Grupo Globo, Amazon, and a third broadcaster, identified as ESPN by Folha de S.Paulo. This agreement represents an increase of over 80 percent compared to the previous contract, with an annual payment of R$ 1 billion, a figure that exceeds the value of the Libertadores.

The new contract includes the rights for the Supercopa Rei between 2028 and 2031. Under the new structure, the CBF intends to nearly double the number of matches broadcast on free-to-air television by organizing rights into four packages. The organization also plans to expand match windows to reduce scheduling overlaps and increase overall exposure.

Starting in 2027, CBF TV will be responsible for the image generation of all matches. By producing a single signal with its own technical and visual standards, the CBF will be able to directly manage commercial deliveries and advertising spaces during broadcasts. This strategy mirrors models used by FIFA, UEFA, and Conmebol.

These financial and broadcasting changes coincide with a reform of the tournament format. The number of participants will increase from 92 to 126 in 2026 and reach 128 by 2027. The total number of matches will grow from 122 in the previous model to 157 starting in 2027. Additionally, the final will be played as a single match starting in 2026 to increase commercial appeal and promote tourism.
