Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

The Chilean government has decided not to withdraw US$ 2,422 million in profits from the state copper company, Codelco, for the 2025 fiscal year. President José Antonio Kast announced that these funds will be retained by the company to be used for investments. According to the Ministry of Mining, this marks the first time in the company's history that the state has authorized the retention of 100 percent of remnants generated in a single annual exercise.

Of the total amount, US$ 2,006 million stems from a accounting recognition related to Novandino Litio, a joint venture between Codelco and SQM. Bernardo Fontaine, the president of Codelco's board, explained that while the move does not increase the company's actual cash reserves, it prevents Codelco from having to take on US$ 2,400 million in debt to pay the state. The funds are intended for investments, and the company is expected to present a strategic plan in the final quarter of the year detailing its investment priorities.
