CJP Announces September 5 March in Delhi Over Unfulfilled Government Promises

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced a peaceful protest march in Delhi on September 5, scheduled to move from India Gate to the Delhi Police headquarters. The party alleges that the Union Government failed to honor commitments made during negotiations on July 25, which led to the calling off of a previous agitation. A primary grievance is the failure to withdraw first information reports (FIRs) registered against students and protesters, despite assurances from the government.

The march, timed to coincide with Teachers Day, will include families of NEET aspirants who died by suicide and victims of alleged police brutality. According to reports, the withdrawal of FIRs was one of three conditions for ending the July protests, alongside demands for the resignation of former education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and compensation for the families of deceased students. While some states have announced that no legal action will be taken against protesters, the CJP asserts that FIRs have not been withdrawn in any state.

Delhi Police sources stated that no formal request for the march has been received. A senior officer noted that prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita are currently in force in the New Delhi district, meaning protests are generally restricted to the Jantar Mantar area with prior permission.

Framing of the event differs based on political lean. A center left source emphasizes the government's failure to honor its word and the vulnerability of the youth. A center right source provides more legal context, noting that some states have already pledged not to take legal action and detailing the specific police regulations regarding protest locations.
