  • A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.

Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) announced on Saturday that its official Instagram account was briefly suspended on Independence Day before being successfully recovered. Founder Abhijeet Dipke posted on X at 6.16 am that the account had been taken down, calling those responsible bloody cowards. By 6.45 am, the CJP confirmed the account had been restored. Dipke stated that the timing of the suspension was an attempt to muzzle the voice of the movement on India's Independence Day.

Reports on the event differ in their contextual framing. A center leaning source framed the incident within the context of the CJP's political activism, noting that the party has been involved in protests regarding NEET UG exam leaks and has previously accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of taking down its account. A center right leaning source focused more on the technical claims regarding Meta and highlighted the CJP's launch of the School Thik Karo campaign, which aims to improve rural government school infrastructure in Maharashtra.

This is not the first time the CJP has reported issues with its social media presence. The party previously faced a suspension during protests at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, and Dipke claimed in May that his account had been hacked and a backup account was removed by Meta.

How each side framed it

Centre
Framed the event as part of a pattern of political suppression and the party's role in student protests.
Centre-right
Framed the event around the party's specific claims against Meta and its new educational campaign.
