Comedian Russell Howard Announces Death of Baby Son and Launch of Charity Foundation

Comedian Russell Howard has revealed that his baby son, Felix, died shortly after birth earlier this year. In a statement shared on social media, Howard described the experience as the most devastating time of his life and noted that he and his wife, Cerys Morgan, faced unimaginable heartache. Howard praised the hospital staff for their compassion and specifically highlighted the support of a bereavement midwife named Lauren, who had experienced a similar tragedy. He mentioned that the use of a cool cot allowed the couple to spend precious hours with their son.

In memory of Felix, Howard and Morgan, who is an NHS doctor, have established The Felix Foundation. The charity aims to support families affected by miscarriage, premature birth, stillbirth, neonatal death, or related bereavement by providing funding for specialist facilities, training, and other support. To raise money for the foundation, a charity event titled the Stand-Up Gala will take place at London's O2 Arena on February 8. The event will feature performances from several comedians, including Michael McIntyre, Jimmy Carr, Aisling Bea, John Bishop, and Mo Gilligan, who Howard stated are donating their time free of charge.

Howard and Morgan have been together since 2004 and share another son born in August 2024. The couple had not publicly announced they were expecting their second child at the time of the loss.
