David Crowley won the Democratic primary for governor in Wisconsin on Tuesday. The victory followed a brief period where Crowley had suspended his campaign before re-entering the race ten days later. He defeated democratic socialist state lawmaker Francesca Hong to secure the nomination. Crowley, the 40 year old Milwaukee County executive and former state Assembly member, is now set to face Republican Representative Tom Tiffany in the general election this November. If elected, Crowley would become the first Black governor in the state's history.

Crowley's campaign received support from outgoing Democratic Governor Tony Evers, who recruited him back into the race and campaigned alongside him. Crowley highlighted his personal history of overcoming hardship, including eviction and addiction, and his path from an electrical apprenticeship to graduating from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in 2024.
