  • A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.

Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

The death toll from devastating flash floods and landslides along the Nepal and China border has surpassed 1,000 people. Nepali authorities reported 987 deaths and 3,916 missing, while Chinese authorities reported 16 deaths and 546 missing. The disaster was triggered by a glacial collapse near the Langtang Lirung mountain peak, which sent a wall of water, mud, and debris downstream. The surge destroyed entire settlements, bridges, and roads, and wiped out the Rasuwagadhi border crossing. Among the missing are hundreds of foreign nationals from more than 30 countries, including citizens of India, the United States, and Japan.

Rescue operations are currently focused on several hydropower projects in the Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts of Nepal. Approximately 900 workers are reported missing from 12 plants, with roughly 500 believed to be trapped inside tunnels. Nepali army teams are using drilling and blasting techniques to reach them, though many recovered bodies have been found in these sludge filled tunnels. In Tibet, Chinese rescue crews are working to reopen the highway to Gyirong Port to facilitate the delivery of supplies.

Due to a lack of refrigeration facilities and the rapid decomposition of bodies, the Nepali government has authorized temporary burials. DNA samples are being collected from the deceased to facilitate future identification. Humanitarian needs remain critical, with reports of thousands of children requiring treatment for acute malnutrition and risks of cholera and typhoid outbreaks.

The disaster has sparked a debate over climate responsibility and preparedness. Nepal's Prime Minister Balendra Shah and Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal have attributed the event to global climate change. Minister Khanal stated that the United States, China, and India have a historical responsibility to compensate Nepal for a crisis the country did not create. Meanwhile, a German researcher noted that a proposed early warning system for Nepal had been denied funding in 2022 due to shifting priorities following the invasion of Ukraine.
