Defense for Cilia Flores Requests House Arrest in New York Citing Health Issues

The legal defense for Cilia Flores, the wife of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, has requested that a New York federal judge allow her to remain under house arrest pending her trial. Flores is currently held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn following a military operation in Caracas in early 2026. Her trial, which involves charges of narcotics trafficking and corruption, is scheduled to begin on June 1, 2027.
