Delhi Police Advance Investigations into Drug Syndicate and Bus Gang Rape Case

The Delhi Police have secured 10 days of custody for Virender Baisoya, a businessman extradited from Dubai, to investigate his alleged role in a drug syndicate valued at Rs 13,000 crore. Baisoya, who was previously in the custody of the Narcotics Control Bureau in Mumbai, is suspected of being a central link between drug operators in Pakistan, Dubai, the United Kingdom, and Thailand. The investigation follows seizures of cocaine in South Delhi, West Delhi, and Gujarat, with police alleging that drugs were smuggled from South America via Dubai and transported as pharmaceutical chemicals. Baisoya was one of five proclaimed offenders in a case where 14 of 19 accused have already been arrested.

Separately, the Delhi Police are working to build a watertight case against a bus driver and conductor accused of gang raping a 16 year old girl on August 4. The victim, a resident of Mainpuri who had run away from home, was picked up at Pari Chowk in Greater Noida and allegedly raped inside a sleeper bus before being left near Kashmere Gate in Delhi. Investigators are using CCTV footage and mobile phone data to reconstruct the vehicle's route. Forensic teams have collected biological samples, including hair strands and stains from clothing, for DNA comparison with the suspects, Kuldeep and Sandeep.

Further details reveal that the bus had accumulated eight traffic challans in July, totaling Rs 54,000, and the travel company failed to conduct background checks on the employees. The National Human Rights Commission has issued notices to police commissioners in Delhi and Gautam Budh Nagar, requesting a detailed report on the investigation and victim compensation within two weeks.
