EastEnders actor Shane Richie has pleaded not guilty to drink driving. The 62 year old actor appeared by video link before Colchester Magistrates Court on Wednesday under his real name, Shane Roche. He is accused of driving a white Hyundai car in Church Langley Way, Harlow, Essex, while above the legal limit for alcohol on 29 July. According to the prosecution, police arrested Richie at a Tesco petrol station at 11.15pm. A breath sample allegedly showed 65 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, which exceeds the legal limit of 35 micrograms. During the hearing, Richie apologized to the judge for a brief connection drop, stating he was in a hotel up north. Deputy District Judge Christopher Maynard bailed Richie until 17 November 2027, when he is scheduled to stand trial. Raj Chada, his legal representative from Hodge Jones and Allen, stated that his client is not commenting while criminal proceedings are active.
