Economy Minister Giorgetti Outlines Budget Priorities at Lega Event

Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti has proposed a tax advantage for companies that increase salaries for young people, describing the measure as a form of flat tax. Speaking at the Lega party event titled In tua difesa: verso la finanziaria 2027, Giorgetti also expressed support for raising the flat tax limit for VAT registered professionals from 85,000 to 100,000 euros, calling the current European limit astruous and unjustified. Regarding pensions, the minister stated that the Lega proposal to allow retirement at 64 makes sense to correct a distortion between workers who started before and after 1996, though he emphasized that the system must remain sustainable in the long term.

On the issue of taxing bank profits, Giorgetti avoided a direct commitment to the Lega proposal for a 5 percent contribution. He instead suggested that introducing competition into the system would naturally lower excess profits for the benefit of the community.
