- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Every outlet covering this story shares the same political lean; read with that in mind.
Enflame Technology, a prominent Chinese artificial intelligence chip manufacturer, saw its share price surge 188 percent during its trading debut on the Shanghai Stock Exchange on Friday. The company opened at 410 yuan per share, a significant increase from its initial issue price of 142.18 yuan. This performance brought the company's valuation to approximately 26.3 billion dollars.
Enflame raised about 6.12 billion yuan by selling more than 43 million shares. The company is backed by strategic investors including Tencent, Xiaomi, GigaDevice, and ZTE. Enflame plans to use the proceeds to develop and commercialize its fifth and sixth generation chips, strengthen supply chains, and improve independent innovation capabilities.
Known as one of the four little dragons of the AI chip sector, Enflame is the last of its group to go public. Other companies in this group include MetaX, Moore Threads, and Biren Technology. The high demand for shares, which exceeded supply by more than 4,000 times, indicates strong investor appetite for domestic AI champions. This trend occurs as the Chinese government prioritizes technological self sufficiency in its plan through 2030.
Both reports note that these domestic firms have benefited from the restricted presence of the American company Nvidia in China. These restrictions were imposed by Washington on the export of advanced chips as part of an ongoing trade and technological conflict with Beijing.
