European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas announced that the bloc intends to significantly expand sanctions against Russia in the coming months. In an interview with the German newspaper Die Welt, Kallas stated that she will present the most comprehensive sanctions list since the start of the war this autumn. If adopted, these measures would immediately increase the total number of sanctioned Russian entities by one third. She claimed that Moscow is targeting these areas because its army is not winning on the battlefield. This assessment comes amid reports of continued Russian missile and drone strikes on cities such as Kyiv and Kryvyi Rih, as well as Ukrainian drone attacks within Russia.
