Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

Every outlet covering this story shares the same political lean; read with that in mind.

A heatwave at the end of June caused historical excess mortality across Europe. In Germany, the Rhine river has reached historical low water levels in the state of North Rhine Westphalia. Data from the Waterways and Shipping Office Rhine indicates that a historical low was measured in Cologne. Forecasts suggest that water levels in Cologne, Düsseldorf, Emmerich, and Duisburg Ruhrort will drop further by Friday evening. These levels are expected to be more than 20 centimeters lower than the previous historical lows recorded on October 23, 2018. While a slight increase in water levels is expected next week, officials state this does not represent a relaxation of the situation.
