Traffic congestion and rolling road closures are expected in central Seoul this weekend due to the Seoul International Fireworks Festival on Saturday and the YTN Seoul Tour Marathon on Sunday morning. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that vehicle traffic on Yeouidong-ro, from the south end of Mapo Grand Bridge to the 63 Building, will be completely restricted from 3 p.m. Saturday until midnight Sunday. Additionally, Wonhyo Grand Bridge will be closed in both directions from 9 a.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday to facilitate the installation and removal of equipment. Only event vehicles and nearby apartment residents will be permitted to pass through restricted roads.
Public transportation will also be affected. Subway trains may not stop at Yeouinaru Station from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday due to expected crowd density. The city recommends using Yeouido, Mapo, or Saetgang stations as alternatives. Twenty four bus routes will be temporarily diverted.
On Sunday morning, the YTN Seoul Tour Marathon will cause further disruptions from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The course starts at Seoul City Hall Plaza and passes through Sejongdaero, Jongno, Euljiro, and Cheonggyecheonro before ending in Mugyoro. Police will implement rolling closures on these routes as runners pass. To manage the flow of traffic and detours, approximately 1,610 police officers and volunteer wardens will be deployed over the weekend.
