Five people died on Tuesday after a Flying Doctor service helicopter crashed near the Long Lellang short take off and landing airport in the state of Sarawak, Malaysia. Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad stated that the victims included a pilot and four ministry staff members: a medical officer, an assistant medical officer, and two nurses who were on official duty. A disaster management committee official in Miri confirmed the deaths to the state news agency Bernama.
The Flying Doctor service provides clinical care, emergency transport, and medical assistance to isolated or rural regions. The air accident investigations bureau of the transport ministry is currently investigating the incident.
