Carlos Alberto Parreira, the 83 year old former head coach of the Brazilian national team, was discharged from Hospital Samaritano Barra in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday morning. Parreira had been hospitalized since June 16, spending a total of 80 days under medical care. Upon his departure at approximately 11 a.m. he was greeted by staff and onlookers with applause and shouts of "he is the champion."
