Four Killed in Armed Attack at Roadside Bar in Cesar

Four people were killed and several others were injured during an armed attack on Sunday, September 13, at the Cabeza de Hacha establishment in the corregimiento of Simaña, located in the municipality of La Gloria, Cesar. Armed individuals entered the public venue and fired indiscriminately at those present, resulting in the immediate death of four unidentified people. Witnesses and authorities transported the wounded to local medical centers. The government of Cesar rejected the attack and Governor Elvia Milena Sanjuan established a Unified Command Post to evaluate the situation. Authorities are investigating the primary hypothesis that the massacre was caused by disputes between armed groups or criminal bands seeking territorial control and illegal rents in the southern region of the department. Former President Alvaro Uribe commented on the event via social media, calling for the national government to defeat the violent actors through the heroism of soldiers and police. Congresista Claudia Margarita Zuleta noted that the attack occurred shortly after a Security Council meeting in Valledupar, where she had informed the Ministry of the Interior and Ministry of Defense about the delicate security situation in Cesar.
