  • A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.

Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

Fox News Media announced on Thursday that Maria Bartiromo is no longer with the network. The announcement followed a tenure of twelve and a half years during which Bartiromo hosted a weekday morning show on Fox Business and a weekend show on Fox News. While the network described the move as a business decision, a source told CNN that Bartiromo was removed after she leaked internal network guidance to the Trump White House. This guidance reportedly instructed programs not to follow President Donald Trump into conspiracy theories regarding the 2020 election.

Bartiromo's lawyer, Bryan Freedman, issued a statement on Friday asserting that reports of her being fired or no longer being an employee are absolutely and unequivocally false. However, reports indicate that Bartiromo had become increasingly isolated within the network. Her history of promoting 2020 election denial lies contributed to a record setting defamation settlement between Fox and Dominion Voting Systems in 2023. She also faced criticism for on air claims regarding illegal immigration and voter registration in Texas, which the Texas Department of Public Safety called false.

Outlets with different political perspectives framed the departure differently. A center left source framed the event as a sign that Fox News prioritizes its corporate interests and legal safety over its loyalty to Donald Trump. A left leaning source framed the departure as a reflection of the unhealthy relationship between the network and the president, as well as the fallout from Trump's obsession with conspiracy theories.

How each side framed it

Left
Framed the exit as a consequence of the network's unhealthy political relationship with Trump and Bartiromo's own journalistic infractions.
Centre-left
Framed the exit as a strategic business move by Fox to protect its bottom line from legal risks associated with Trump's election claims.
