- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

German Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil has met with Unicredit CEO Andrea Orcel to discuss the Italian bank's acquisition of Commerzbank. The meeting follows a period where the German government avoided contact with Orcel and characterized the takeover attempt as hostile. This shift in approach comes after Unicredit secured nearly 50 percent of Commerzbank shares. During the talks, the German government emphasized that Commerzbank should remain a publicly listed company with its headquarters in Frankfurt. The government also stressed the importance of protecting jobs for more than 40,000 employees and maintaining the bank's role in financing the German economy and the medium sized business sector. Orcel expressed gratitude for the opportunity to share his priorities and indicated that further meetings would follow. The German government intends to continue sending two representatives to the supervisory board as the second largest shareholder. While the Finance Minister described the conversation as constructive, reports indicate that no firm commitments were made by Orcel.
