The German Radio Prizes were recently awarded at the Stage Theater an der Elbe in Hamburg to honor outstanding journalists and presenters. The event was hosted by Tagesschau presenter Susanne Daubner before approximately 1,000 guests. Awards were distributed across several categories by an independent jury from the Grimme Institute.
WDR 2 received the prize for Best Information Format for the podcast Inside CumEx: Jagd auf die Steuer-Mafia. NDR 2 won for Best Entertainment for the series Barmbek Bump: Prange vs. Rohde. Deutschlandfunk Nova was recognized for Best Reportage for the series Die Lieblingsschülerin, which investigated sexualized violence and grooming in the school system. Other winners included Gong 96.3 for Best Program, R.SA for Best Music Format, and 1Live for Best Morning Show. Individual honors went to Evren Gezer as Best Presenter, Melina Sander for Best Interview, and Sina Wende as Best Newcomer.
A posthumous honorary prize was awarded to American moderator Rik De Lisle, with singer Rea Garvey delivering the eulogy.
