Government Personnel Changes Announced in Bangladesh and Singapore

The governments of Bangladesh and Singapore have announced updates to their senior bureaucracy involving promotions, appointments, and retirements. In Bangladesh, the government promoted two additional secretaries to the rank of secretary through a reshuffle. Md Fazlur Rahman, Chairman of the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation, was promoted to secretary and appointed to the Bangladesh Public Service Commission. Abu Sayeed Md Kamruzzaman, Executive Director of the Barind Multipurpose Development Authority, was also promoted and named chief executive officer of the Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority. Additionally, Housing and Public Works Secretary Nazrul Islam has retired at age 59, while Md Saidur Rahman Khan, previously the Disaster Management and Relief Secretary, was appointed secretary of the Anti-Corruption Commission.

In Singapore, the Public Service Division announced that Professor Tan Chorh Chuan will retire on September 1 as Permanent Secretary of National Research and Development and the Public Sector Science and Technology Policy and Plans Office in the Prime Minister's Office. Mr Ng Chad-Son will take over these roles on September 1 and will also be appointed as Permanent Secretary (Defence Development) at the Ministry of Defence. This appointment replaces Mr Melvyn Ong Su Kiat, who will relinquish that role while continuing as Permanent Secretary (Sustainability and the Environment).
