The hacker group Rhysida released a second package of stolen data on Sunday night following a large scale cyberattack on the Berlin Senate administration. The Berlin Senate confirmed the release and stated that security measures have been further tightened. These precautions may cause short term disruptions to specialized procedures within the construction and housing administration, which could also affect citizens.
The group gained unauthorized access to the Berlin state network between August 7 and August 12, targeting the Senate administrations for construction and transport. The attack was detected on August 14 and made public three days later. The hackers demanded a ransom of two million euros in Bitcoin by Friday. The Berlin state government refused to pay, after which approximately 1.4 million files were made available for download.
