Train movement to Mizoram has been disrupted after heavy rainfall on September 3 caused soil erosion near the railway tracks. The Northeast Frontier Railway reported that approximately 70 metres of tracks were affected on the Katakhal Bairabi section between Jamira in Assam and Bairabi in Mizoram. Restoration work has begun, although officials noted that the lack of direct road access to the site poses additional challenges and may delay completion.
Several train services have been impacted. The Guwahati Sairang Express, Silchar Bairabi Express, Sairang Kolkata Express, and Bairabi Silchar Express scheduled for September 4 were cancelled. Additionally, the Silchar Sairang Express and Sairang Silchar Express scheduled for September 5 were cancelled. The Sairang Guwahati Express and Sairang Anand Vihar Terminal Express scheduled for September 4 will be short originated from Hailakandi and remain cancelled between Sairang and Hailakandi.
