- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

Graham Jarvis, a 38 year old Household Cavalry soldier, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison at Southwark Crown Court for plotting to rape a seven year old girl and a 10 month old baby. The court heard that Jarvis agreed online to sexually abuse the children and planned to travel from his central London barracks to Wales to carry out the attacks. He was unaware that he was communicating with an undercover police officer posing as the mother.
Judge Adam Hiddleston stated that the case was not one of fantasy and that Jarvis genuinely intended to assault the children. The judge described Jarvis as having a cold and clinical attitude. The offences occurred in mid January 2024, and Jarvis was arrested in February 2024 before he could make the journey.
Defense lawyer Lisa Wilson noted that Jarvis was dismissed from the military following his convictions and was experiencing a traumatic period. Jarvis denied the charges but was convicted at trial. He must serve at least eight years in custody, with an extra two years on licence.
