Yemen's Houthi militants claimed on Wednesday and Monday that they attacked Saudi oil tankers as part of a maritime blockade. The group stated they targeted the tanker Daisy in the Gulf of Aden with a ballistic missile, forcing the vessel to change its route. A separate report indicates the Houthis also targeted the tanker Wafa in the northern Red Sea off the coast of Yanbu using ballistic missiles. These incidents mark the eighth and ninth strikes since the blockade began in July.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations reported a strong explosion near a tanker approximately 95 nautical miles southeast of Aden on Wednesday. The agency stated that all crew members are safe and there was no environmental impact, though it did not explicitly confirm if this was the vessel targeted by the Houthis. Saudi authorities have not provided immediate comments on the allegations.

The Houthis stated that they are monitoring Saudi tankers and intend to escalate attacks in the northern Red Sea to close all access points.
