Im Sung-jae will not compete in the PGA Tour playoff finale in Atlanta for the first time in his career. Despite tying for 10th place at the BMW Championship with a four round total of eight under 272, Im finished 37th in the FedEx Cup standings. He needed at least a tie for sixth place to enter the top 30 required for the Tour Championship.

Im was tied for fourth place after the first two rounds, shooting 67 and 64, but he struggled over the weekend with rounds of 70 and 71. His final round included a birdie and an eagle, but he also recorded four bogeys. The 28 year old had previously appeared in every Tour Championship since his rookie season in 2018 to 2019.
