- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Independiente Santa Fe advanced to the quarterfinals of the Copa Sudamericana after eliminating River Plate in a penalty shootout on Wednesday at the Monumental stadium in Buenos Aires. The match ended in a 1 1 draw during regulation time, following a 0 0 draw in the first leg played in Bogota. Sebastian Driussi opened the scoring for River Plate in the 52nd minute after an assist from Gonzalo Montiel. Santa Fe equalized in the 80th minute when Franco Fagundez converted a penalty awarded after a handball by Lucas Martinez Quarta.
The match was decided by a marathon penalty shootout consisting of 22 kicks. Santa Fe won the shootout 8 7. River Plate goalkeeper Santiago Beltran saved three penalties but later missed his own attempt, sending the ball over the crossbar. Santa Fe goalkeeper Weibmar Asprilla saved one shot and scored the decisive final penalty to secure the victory. Santa Fe will now face Vasco da Gama in the quarterfinals, while other matchups include Boca Juniors against Sao Paulo, Atletico Mineiro against Santos, and Torque against Cienciano.
Outlets with a center left lean framed the victory as a historic achievement for the Colombian side. In contrast, a center right outlet highlighted the precarious position of River Plate manager Eduardo Coudet, reporting that his continuity with the team was conditioned on the outcome of this round.
