Iran Allegedly Plotted to Assassinate Yair Netanyahu in Florida

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed on Monday that Iran attempted to murder one of his sons. While the Prime Minister did not initially specify which son was targeted, a report from Newsmax citing a U.S. law enforcement source identified the target as the Prime Minister's eldest son, Yair Netanyahu. According to the source, Israeli intelligence learned of the plot in December and alerted U.S. authorities. Iranian operatives were believed to be on the ground in the Miami area, where they monitored Yair Netanyahu's residence and movements. Consequently, Yair Netanyahu was instructed to leave Florida immediately and return to Israel.

The disclosure came during an interview with Channel 14, where Netanyahu stated that security for his children is not a luxury because without it, the attackers would simply succeed. This revelation follows a July decision by a ministerial committee to extend Shin Bet protection for Sara Netanyahu and the Prime Minister's sons, Yair and Avner. Reports indicate that while the Mossad and Shin Bet Director David Zini supported the extension, some reports suggest the professional assessment of the Shin Bet was changed following pressure.

These events occur amid a broader pattern of Iranian threats. Recent reports highlight Iranian state affiliated media broadcasting videos targeting the family of Donald Trump, including his son Barron and wife Melania. These videos allegedly detailed surveillance of their movements and offered bounties for their deaths.
