The number of Iranian military personnel reported killed by US strikes this week has risen to at least 13, according to Iran's semi official Tasnim news agency. The latest report on Thursday stated that six members of the regular military, including three pilots, were killed in southern Iran during strikes on Tuesday. These strikes were described as the most extensive in weeks.
Earlier reports indicated that Tuesday's operations killed three members of the paramilitary Basij on Lavan Island in the Gulf and four members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force in western Iran. Additionally, strikes on Sunday killed three people, two of whom were identified as members of the IRGC Navy by the Nournews outlet.
The broader conflict, which began in late February with US and Israeli strikes on Iran, has resulted in thousands of deaths, primarily in Iran and Lebanon. The US has reported 18 military personnel killed and more than 750 wounded. An Iranian health ministry official reported on X that 18 people were killed and 142 wounded between August 30 and September 2, including four people attending a wedding.
