Israel's population has reached an estimated 10.305 million people ahead of Rosh Hashanah, according to data released Wednesday by the Central Bureau of Statistics. This represents an increase of approximately 124,000 people, or a growth rate of 1.2 percent, over the past year. The growth was driven by 182,000 births, while approximately 50,000 people died during the same period.
Despite the overall population increase, the country recorded a negative international migration balance. Approximately 24,000 new immigrants arrived and 21,000 Israelis returned to the country, but roughly 57,000 Israelis left. This resulted in a net migration loss of about 8,000 people.
