Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon have killed between 12 and 13 people, including women and children, according to reports from the Lebanese health ministry and the Associated Press. One specific raid in the village of Kfar Remman in the Nabatiye district killed eight members of the Farhat family, including two newborns and two women. Two rescuers also died in that same attack. Hezbollah confirmed that two of its members were among the dead in Kfar Remman.
Israel stated that the raid on Kfar Remman targeted Hezbollah infrastructure in response to drone launches against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon. Israeli forces also reported that two soldiers were wounded during a firefight with Lebanese fighters near Beaufort Castle. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun described the Israeli attacks as unacceptable crimes.
Reports indicate a broader escalation in the region. One source reports approximately 30 people have been killed over 72 hours in southern Lebanon, including fighters and civilians. The Lebanese health ministry states that 4,381 people have been killed and 12,402 wounded since March 2. Meanwhile, the Israeli military has alerted residents of northern Galilee to expect imminent attacks in Lebanon that may be audible within Israel.
