Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu Sentenced to Over Two Years in Prison

Ekrem Imamoglu, the suspended Mayor of Istanbul and a prominent rival to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has been sentenced to 25 months in prison. The court found the leader of the Republican People's Party (CHP) guilty of insulting a public official, specifically referring to comments made in 2022 regarding Sadi Yazici, who was then the mayor of the Tuzla district.
