Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

Every outlet covering this story shares the same political lean; read with that in mind.

John Ternus, 51, will become the new chief executive officer of Apple on Tuesday, September 1. He succeeds Tim Cook, who led the company for 15 years after following founder Steve Jobs. Ternus previously managed hardware development and played a key role in the success of the iPhone and other devices. Cook may continue to influence strategic matters as chairman of the board.

Under Cook's leadership, Apple established market leadership in smartwatches and wireless earbuds. The company also achieved success by introducing its own custom chips to create a unified foundation across its device ecosystem.

Ternus now faces the challenge of transitioning the company into the era of artificial intelligence. Apple's current strategy assumes users will access AI services through existing iPhones and Macs. However, some competitors believe AI may necessitate entirely new categories of hardware. OpenAI has involved former Apple chief designer Jony Ive in a hardware project and employs over 400 former Apple staff. Apple has taken legal action against several former employees over the alleged misappropriation of trade secrets.

Additionally, Ternus must manage reorganizations and rising production costs caused by the increasing price of memory during the AI boom.
