Keralam Cabinet Extends Teacher Rank List Validity and Approves New NDPS Courts

The Keralam Cabinet on Wednesday decided to extend the validity of 18 Public Service Commission (PSC) rank lists for teacher appointments by six months. These lists, which cover positions from the primary level to the higher secondary level, were originally set to expire in September, October, and November 2026. Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan stated that the extension is necessary because vacancies were not reported on time due to factors such as census duty, BLO duties, staff fixation, and delays in transfer procedures.

In a separate decision, the Cabinet approved the establishment of three new special courts under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in the judicial districts of Palakkad, Manjeri, and Thrissur. The government will also increase the number of permanent posts in existing NDPS courts in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam from eight to eleven. Each of the three new courts will also be allocated eleven permanent posts, creating a total of 33 new positions. Chief Minister Satheesan noted that while these measures will create an additional financial burden for the state, they are essential for the speedy trial of drug cases as part of the government's anti-drug efforts.
