- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Every outlet covering this story shares the same political lean; read with that in mind.
Lando Norris took pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix after delivering a late, high precision lap in the final seconds of Q3. Norris beat Kimi Antonelli's Mercedes by 0.011 seconds, despite a mistake in the final corner that cost him over 0.3 seconds. McLaren team principal Andrea Stella described the performance as a masterpiece, noting that the team had not been performing at a level expected to score pole position. Norris stated that the lap was one of the best of his career.
The qualifying session took place on a challenging circuit described by George Russell as having less margin than Monaco. While some predicted the session would be interrupted by red flags, it remained largely incident free. In the early stages, Liam Lawson provided a surprise by jumping to the lead with his first fast lap in Q1. Other drivers who failed to advance included Fernando Alonso, Carlos Sainz, and Esteban Ocon.
Max Verstappen secured third place on the grid, following a strong rhythm in Q2. The final top five consists of Norris, Antonelli, Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, and Charles Leclerc. The race is scheduled to begin on Sunday at 15:00.
