- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

The electricity distributor Light announced on Wednesday, October 9, that it has ended the judicial recovery process that began in May 2023. The 3rd Business Court of the District of Rio de Janeiro ruled that the company fulfilled all obligations due during the two years of judicial supervision between June 2024 and June 2026. The recovery plan aimed to restructure 11 billion reais in debt and received support from over 99 percent of creditors, including banks and debenture holders.
The court decision highlighted several key measures: the selection of payment methods by creditors, cash payments to more than 27,000 creditors, the issuance of new debt instruments, and the restructuring of notes issued abroad. Additionally, the company implemented a capital increase resulting from the renewal of its concession. In July of this year, Light approved a capital increase of 1.35 billion reais through the issuance of new shares and simultaneously filed the request to end the judicial recovery.
Light is one of the primary energy concessionaires in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Before the announcement, the company's shares closed up 1.11 percent at 3.64 reais. Reports indicate that organized crime contributed to the company's debt in 2023, as a significant portion of Light's coverage area in Rio was controlled by drug trafficking and armed militias.
