A man estimated to be in his early forties was beaten to death by two men in the Mayur Vihar Phase 3 area of East Delhi during the early hours of Sunday. The incident occurred near DALL flats and a Durga temple, located opposite a local MLA's office. According to police, the victim was seen with two other men before a fight broke out. The two assailants then used wooden planks, logs, and sticks to assault the victim.
A security guard at a nearby society attempted to intervene to save the victim. While one report states the duo did not stop their assault, another report notes that the attackers threatened to kill the guard as well. The victim was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead. Police have collected CCTV footage of the beating and are currently working to identify both the victim and the suspects, as no identification was found on the body.
Local AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar commented on the murder, alleging that criminals in the national capital have a declining fear of the police. He claimed that seven to eight murders have occurred in his constituency over the past month.
