A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a collision that killed two cyclists in Kent. The incident occurred around 7.47am on Sunday in the village of Cobham near Gravesend, where a white Ford Focus collided with three cyclists on Sole Street. The victims, a man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third rider was hospitalized with minor injuries.
Aaron Turner, 22, of Higham, has been charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision, and possession of a class C drug. He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday. Additionally, a 21 year old man and a 19 year old woman were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and assisting an offender, respectively, before being released on bail.
Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for witnesses, dashcam footage, or CCTV from the area to assist with the investigation.
