Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

Adeel Khan has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison for helping former soldier Daniel Khalife after he escaped from HMP Wandsworth in September 2023. Khan, who was on remand at the prison awaiting extradition to France for human trafficking and firearms offences, helped Khalife by organizing the delivery of 400 pounds in cash. The court heard that Khan used a third party, Imran Chowdhury, to withdraw the money. Chowdhury was cleared of the charge of assisting Khalife.

Prosecuting officer Tom Williams stated that the funds allowed Khalife to buy non prison clothes and a phone used to contact handlers from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp. Judge Murray Shanks noted that while Khan was not charged with assisting the escape itself, he was likely involved in discussions regarding the plan. Khalife, who escaped on the underside of a food delivery truck, was later sentenced to 14 years and three months for breaching the Official Secrets and Terrorism Acts.

During the proceedings, Khan was described as the leader of a network that organized boats for migrants from eastern Europe to the UK. His defense counsel stated that Khan regrets the decisions he made as a young man.
