- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
A 22 year old woman was killed and five others were injured in a shooting at a techno rave in Aarau, Switzerland, on Sunday morning. The incident occurred at the Schachen horse racing track during the annual Aarauer Rave, which had an expected attendance of up to 3,500 people. The victims, aged between 24 and 27, were hospitalized with injuries ranging from minor to severe. Italian authorities confirmed that the deceased woman was an Italian national named Maria Spinelli, and some reports indicate that two of the injured persons are also Italian.
Police received reports of shots fired around 2:30 local time, shortly after the music had stopped. Eyewitnesses described hearing bursts of gunfire that were initially mistaken for fireworks. A large scale security operation followed, involving the Aargau Cantonal Police, the regional disaster response unit, and a Swiss Army Super Puma helicopter. Armed officers were deployed on highways up to 30 kilometers from the site, and German police in Freiburg provided support due to the proximity of the border.
Authorities are currently searching for the perpetrator or perpetrators, who are believed to have fled the immediate area. While the motive remains unknown, police spokespeople have stated they are exploring various hypotheses. Some center right outlets report that antiterrorism units are investigating the event, while center right sources also note that police are considering the possibility of a personal dispute. Conversely, center right reporting mentions that the timing of the attack, occurring as the crowd was dispersing, may argue against the theory of a planned terrorist attack.
Organizers from Agency Events AG expressed shock and sadness over the event, describing it as a cowardly attack. Swiss authorities have urged the public to stay away from the cordoned off areas and have requested that anyone with video or photographic evidence of the incident share it with investigators.
